1. About this policy
This policy explains how we use cookies and similar technologies on our website at www.life-moments.co.uk and in FirstHomeCoach, our own product - what they do, and how you can control them.
The digital coaching products we build for our clients are provided to you by those organisations. They decide what cookies are used, and their cookie notice applies rather than this one. If you are not sure which applies to you, get in touch and we will point you in the right direction.
2. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device when you visit a website, and read back when you return.
We also use similar technologies that work in comparable ways, including local storage, which allows a website or app to keep information on your device without using a cookie. Throughout this policy we refer to all of these as "cookies" unless we say otherwise.
Cookies can be session cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser, or persistent cookies, which stay on your device until they expire or you delete them. They can be first party, set by us, or third party, set by another organisation whose service we use.
3. When we need your permission
Cookies can be placed on your device without permission only where they are strictly necessary for the site or product to work. That is what the law allows.
For everything else - cookies that measure how the site is used, remember your preferences, or support advertising - the law requires us to obtain your permission first, and you can withdraw it at any time.
4. The cookies we use
Our website and FirstHomeCoach ask for your choices separately, and use slightly different category names. Both are set out below, with exactly what sits behind each one.
Our website (www.life-moments.co.uk)
The cookie banner offers four categories. Not all of them are currently in use.
Strictly necessary. Needed for the site to work, and cannot be switched off. At present this means remembering the cookie choices you make. We do this using local storage rather than a cookie.
Preferences. Would remember choices you make so the site behaves the way you expect next time. We do not currently set any preference cookies.
Analytics. Help us understand how the site is used - which pages people visit and how they move through the site - so we can improve it.
Marketing. Would be used for advertising, retargeting or measuring campaigns. We do not currently set any marketing cookies on our website, and we do not advertise or retarget through it.
Your browser may show shorter expiry dates than those above. Browsers apply their own limits to how long cookies can last - Chrome caps first-party cookies at 400 days, and Safari at 7 days where you do not return to the site.
FirstHomeCoach (www.firsthomecoach.co.uk)
FirstHomeCoach asks for your choices using three categories - Essential, Performance and Advertising - and separately asks whether the AI Coach may use your personal data to personalise its guidance. That last one is not a cookie question, so it is not covered here; section 6 of our Privacy Policy explains it, and the setting sits alongside your cookie choices.
FirstHomeCoach sets no essential cookies at all. Your choices are recorded against your profile on our systems rather than in a cookie on your device.
Essential. Needed for the product to work, and cannot be switched off.
Performance. Help us keep the product working properly, so we can find and fix faults.
Advertising. Used to measure how well our advertising works.
We do not use Google Analytics, or any other analytics service, in FirstHomeCoach. Usage measurement for the product is done on our own systems.
We review both lists whenever we add anything to the website or the product, and at least once a year. If they change, we will update this policy.
5. Third parties
Some of the technologies we use are provided by other organisations.
Google Analytics helps us understand how our website is used. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using Google's browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Framer is our website platform. Framer provides basic usage measurement that does not use cookies and does not identify individual visitors.
Calendly powers our "Book a demo" booking form. Calendly sets its own cookies when you use it, governed by Calendly's privacy notice at https://calendly.com/privacy.
Meta provides the advertising measurement pixel used in FirstHomeCoach, and only where you have consented to advertising cookies. Meta's privacy policy is at https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy.
Bugsnag, part of SmartBear, provides error monitoring for FirstHomeCoach so that faults can be found and fixed. It stores an anonymous identifier on your device to group errors from the same device. It is not used to identify you or to track you across other websites.
We do not use social media plugins or widgets. The link to our LinkedIn profile in the footer of our website is an ordinary link and does not set cookies until you follow it.
We do not sell your data. On our website we do not allow third parties to use cookies set through the site to build advertising profiles about you across other websites.
6. Where your data goes
Some of our providers process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards required by UK data protection law - the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK Addendum - together with any additional measures needed.
7. Managing your choices
Our website. Use the Cookie Settings link on the site to reopen your choices and change them at any time.
FirstHomeCoach. Go to My account and then Manage my data - www.firsthomecoach.co.uk/account/user-consents. You will see the same categories you were offered at the start, showing your current choices, and you can change any of them. The AI Coach personalisation setting is on the same page.
How long your choices last. Your website choices are stored on your device until you change them or clear your browser storage. Your FirstHomeCoach choices are stored against your profile. We will ask you again if the cookies we use change materially.
Your browser. Most browsers accept cookies by default. You can change your browser settings to refuse cookies, or to warn you before one is set. How you do this varies by browser and is usually found under Settings, Help or Preferences. Refusing cookies may affect how parts of our website and product work.
Bear in mind that clearing site data for FirstHomeCoach will also remove the guest profile identifier, so any answers saved against a guest profile will no longer be reachable from that browser. If you have a registered account, your information stays in your account and you can sign back in.

8. How this relates to our Privacy Policy
This policy covers cookies specifically. Where a cookie collects information about you, that information is personal data and is handled in line with our Privacy Policy, which explains your rights and how to exercise them.
9. Changes to this policy
We review this policy at least annually and whenever our use of cookies changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
